When I lived at PA and CT I had several opportunities to visit Longwood Gardens. I like it so much so that I have planned to buy a house near by it when I retire. It will become my personal garden if I visit it every day. I can enjoy it and without doing any yard work. This would be the best deal. ha
The price of their seasonal ticket is very reasonable. They also have fireworks on special holidays. You can find their web page at:

The gardens were build by the DuPont family. It took me nearly 1/2 day to walk through the garden. The best time to visit is April and May.
I have been to Longwood Garden twice, both around thanksgiving and Christmas time. I remember they have tropical forest and desert plants sections, it's a sharp contrast with the outside cold winter.
Spring time always is the best time to visit gardens. Last weekend's Laguna visit was quite a surprise; in a small city's small community garden, yet there were so many beautiful flowers around.
