蛇蹤

今天在朋友家，有人來敲門說他們散步經過對面鄰居的前院時看到這條蛇，要我們要小心。順手拍了這兩張。打電話到animal control 說有蛇，她問是不是響尾蛇?我說NO，結果她的結論是「沒關係，牠自己會回家」。

我猜這八成可能是誰養的寵物偷偷溜出來了。

天堂門票

一對孿生弟同時進入大學考場。結果，哥哥收到了大學錄取通知書，弟弟則以兩分之差名落孫山。兄弟倆長相酷似，性格各異。

經市人才中心介紹，他到一家響噹噹的建材製品公司應聘，好不容易闖過了三關，最後是在公司老總的辦公室。輪到他答辯時，老總遲遲不露面，最後秘書來了，告訴他已被錄用。不過，必須先到燒成車間當工人；他感到委屈，要求一定要見老總。秘書遞給他一張紙條，他展開一看，上書八個大字：

"欲上天堂，先下地獄。"

他一抬頭，猛見哥哥走了進來，端坐在老總的椅子上，他的臉頓時燒灼得發痛。天堂與地獄的差別在於心境，而不是環境！

My first woodwork

I have been in a woodwork class for women these days.

This is my first project, a stool (was supposed to be). Looks more like a small table after completed. The wood, rimu, was from our old kitchen cupboard.
Several decades ago, rimu here had been used massively for construction, it becoming an endangered species. Now, logging has been banned; the recycled timber and furniture made from it circulate popularly in the market.

不知道榮家住的這麼遠!?

哈, 有次在skype上, 我們有5六位同學在聊,長空飛劍突然問我說,為什麼我們有很多同學都沒上部落格來聊.

飛劍兄, 右邊的圖就是原因, 哈.

前幾天, 重人兄回台, 榮家是我找來預備做陪者之ㄧ. 他說他看我們在部落格上聊了很過癮, 也想來參一腳,甚至也想要大嫂一起來,但就是怎麼弄都上不來，哈。　後來我又打電話給他，他剛好在車上，他說回家後會馬上跟我聯絡，我來幫他解決。

結果到現在，他可能還沒有回到家，因為我還沒接到他的電話. 我的媽啊, 他公司離家可真遠! 人家何博士作飛機從台灣都回到美國5,6 天了, 他還沒到家.

不然就是他家的'馬'壞了, 可能是買到'跛腳馬', 不然他的'馬上',怎麼這麼慢.

還有可能是另一各原因, 他的'喜生'米堡, 真的很好吃, 生意好的不得了(我也常到costco買來吃) , 錢賺太多 , 數到現在還數不完. 說到這裡我就想起他說改天也要拿各2箱給我, 我看我先買匹好一點的馬送他, 否則要等這騎跛腳馬的'馬上' , 不知要等多久.

知道何博士要到台灣來吃牛肉麵, 芒果冰, 蚵仔煎, 特別約了幾位同學來陪我們這位大博士去吃. 可是何博士實在太客氣, 連續等了幾天的電話(我平時在家不常開手機, 可是楊佩芬一早就幫我連開了幾天手機), 但都沒有電話 .

哈, 我看它是想吃三井,不好意思說, 所以沒有來電話.

不過,何大人沒來, 我的饞蟲卻來了. 等到晚上6點鐘還沒電話, 受不了了,就殺到 star 推薦要帶何大人去吃的劉山東牛肉麵店.

哇, 真的好吃. 棒 ! 真是正統的黃牛肉麵. 何博士沒吃到,真是可惜了.

There was a one-hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

1.He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
(他11歲開始買了第一張股票,但現在還是很後悔說他太晚買了!)

2.He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
(他14歲時,就用他從小時候送報紙所賺的錢,買了一個小農場.)

3.He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.

Paper battery is rechargable 美國壬色列理工學院(Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute，RPI)的研究人員宣佈研發出像紙一樣薄的電池。研究人員是將一張由垂直奈米管(vertical nanotubes)組成的毯子(carpet)浸泡在離子液體電解質(ionic liquid electrolyte)中，然後得到了一種可儲存電能的細胞膜質(cellulose)紙張。 RPI研究團隊透過將二次奈米管電極(second nanotube electrode)放置在上述紙張的另一面，製造出了一種超級電容器(supercapacitor)；然後研究人員在紙張的頂端放置一個鋰電極(lithium electrode)，就產生了號稱像紙一般薄的可充電電池。RPI教授Robert Linhardt表示：「該種紙張嵌入了奈米碳管，而且電解質也浸透了該紙張，所以它的外觀與重量就與一般的紙張沒兩樣。」 這種超級電容器/可充電電池是RPI多個實驗室歷經一年半的聯合研究成果。其中一個實驗室負責製造用以做為電池電極的奈米碳管架構；研究人員在一張薄板上垂直培育出奈米碳管，然後讓液體狀的細胞膜質灌注在由奈米碳管「森林」中，就形成了電池。另一個實驗室則負責添加一種鋰材質的頂端電極，以及一個次奈米碳管電極，製造出這種可充電電池/超級電容器。 一開始離子液體會分解細胞膜質，將其轉變成為膠狀(gel)；這種流質就是電池的電解質，負責將離子從紙電池的這端運送到另一端。 每張紙電池能產生約2.4伏特(volts)的電能，能量密度約每平方公分0.6毫安培(milliamps/cm2)；也可將紙電池堆疊起來以獲得更高的電能。若還需要更大的電流，還可以把紙張面積加大。RPI的研究人員表示，這種紙電池能在-100~300°F的溫度範圍內運作，能傳遞高速的浪湧電流(surges of current)，可碾壓翻轉、也能被裁切成各種形狀。 到目前為止，RPI的研究人員僅將該紙電池重複充電過100次，不過他們指其性能在充電過後並無退化的跡象。下一步，研究人員打算繼續測試該種電池的最高重複充電壽命，並為提升其能量密度進行設計最佳化。 而因為該種紙張具備生物相容性(biocompatible)，研究人員也將針對紙電池在醫療植入設備(medical implants)供電上的應用進行實驗，甚至可能採用血液或是汗液來做為液體電解質。此外研究人員也將採用傳統的捲軸式印刷製程(roll-to-roll printing presses)，來尋找生產這種電池/電容器的最佳方法。 參考原文

科技新知....用水發動的汽車引擎可望成真

透過把水與一種鋁鎵合金(aluminum-gallium)的珠狀粒子相混合產生氫(hydrogen)的方法，美國普渡大學(Purdue University)一位電子工程學教授找到了一種汽油的替代方案。由於鎵在化學反應中不會被消耗，而鋁能被循環使用，此一發現可望使未來汽車引擎可用水取代汽油來發動。

普渡大學已為上述技術申請了專利，並獨家授權給位於印第安那州的一家新創公司AlGalCo。電子工程學教授Jerry Woodall是在實驗室中清洗一個含有液態鎵和鋁合金的坩鍋(crucible)時，偶然地擁有以上的發現。「當我把水添加到這個合金當中時，產生了一個猛烈的吹氣聲，」Woodall表示：「當液態合金中的鋁原子與水接觸時，它們之間發生了反應，使水爆裂開，並產生氫氣和鋁氧化物。」

Woodall表示，水燃料引擎要邁向商業化，還有一些製程上的瓶頸有待克服；不過他也強調，該技術最終可應用於直接燃燒氫的引擎，或是為氫燃料電池充電。Woodall也透露，上述化學反應不會產生有毒的副產品，一磅的鋁能產生2千瓦的功率；一輛行駛350英哩的汽車，將消耗約350磅、價值約60美元的鋁，而且化學反應後留下的氧化鋁還能被還原回鋁鎵顆粒物供循環使用。

Water-fueled engine appears on the horizon

PORTLAND, Ore. — An EE professor at Purdue University has found a way to produce hydrogen that replaces the need for gasoline by mixing water with beads of an aluminum-gallium alloy. The discovery could lead to engines that essentially burn water, instead of gasoline, since the gallium is not consumed in the reaction and the aluminum can be recycled. Purdue has patented the process and has issued an exclusive license for it to an Indiana startup company, AlGalCo LLC. EE professor Jerry Woodall discovered the process in the lab by accident, while cleaning a crucible containing liquid alloys of gallium and aluminum "When I added water to this alloy, there was a violent poof," said Woodall. "When the aluminum atoms in the liquid alloy came into contact with the water, they reacted, splitting the water and producing hydrogen and aluminum oxide." Woodall claims that several industrial process problems need to be solved before the water-fueled engine can become commercially viable. But eventually, he said, it could be used both in engines that burn the hydrogen directly and to charge up hydrogen fuel cells. The reaction has no toxic by-products and can produce two kilowatt hours of energy from a pound of aluminum, said Woodall. For a 350-mile trip in an automobile, it would take about 350 pounds of aluminum at a cost of about $60, since the aluminum oxide left over after the reaction could be converted back into aluminum-gallium pellets for reuse.

注意"老豆腐" 也升級為"宇宙超級"股市分析大師

今天下午老覺得椅子坐不穩, 不知道是全球股市大跌,跌的老豆腐心驚膽跳, 還是也像我們石全一樣也有"宇宙超級大"的尊稱, 但, 哈, 實力不夠,椅子有點坐不穩.......

至於我的心情, 若要我用一個字形容, 就是爽!...若是用兩個字來形容就是"很爽".....三個字來說就有點粗魯,叫"爽歪了!"....用四個字就好一點,我會說"龍心大悅" ...若再多用幾個字, 這就比較能符合豆腐的氣質, 我要說"你他x的, 你這小子, 這種稱呼也不會早點叫, 真是欠扁!".

好了爽夠了, 回到正題, 今天道瓊大跌387點, NASDAQ大跌56點, 我們之前提的 sandisk(代號 sndk,作flash) 及 cree (作 led )竟然還分別上漲了2.13%及1.46%, 難怪我們明炫兄會說 "不可思議".

這兩支股票我們之前在本部落格分析過, 都是未來幾年產業遠景非常好的股票, 尤其是 led 的產業更是不可限量, 去年全球最大的 led 公司是日本的日亞化 (nichia , 沒有上市,買不到它的股票) 營業額18億美元; 第二是德國的 歐司朗osram,6億美元; 第三, 美國的 lumileds(屬飛利浦集團); 接下來的第四及第五 cree 及晶電(2448)都是三億美元左右 ,不分上下.

這前5名中 歐斯朗及lumileds 都是光源供應商(非純 led公司), 最大的日亞化有80%是作led; 而 cree 及台灣的晶電都是百分之百做 Led, 且都是全部做上游的晶片(上游的進入障礙高, 最有價值,可享有較高的本益比).

至於做flash的sandisk, 我們上週五說過,三星(佔全球45%的flash)出問題, flash 會大漲, 昨天(週四)出來的三星flash合約價, 就大漲了25%. 據分析flash仍會缺個幾個月.

這兩檔都是不錯的潛力股, 尤其是在全球股市都近乎崩跌的情行下,還能上漲, 這就是強勢潛力股的訊號跟特徵.

只是我認為美國及台灣股市長線多頭不變,但中線(3到6個月)則不樂觀, 尤其現在次級房貸(subprime loan) 比預期嚴重 , 目前已延燒到歐洲及全球. 昨天巴黎銀行的三家基金還不准贖回, 歐洲央行還緊急提供約1300億美金支援,比911時的 700億美元,多了近一倍, 美國fed也提出240億美元;今天連日本央行,澳洲央行,...等都分別提出幾十億到近百億美元來解決信貸市場緊縮的風險. 另外還有日圓利差交易(yen carry trade)在添油加醋,....這就是我之前所擔心的, 從美國的線型看,道瓊跌破13,000的重要支撐 ,大概不可避免.

我們在7月29日說的 "我預估美股強勢整理的話會回到12,300到12,600附近(昨天8月9日週四收13,270), 若次級房貸及利差交易嚴重,那將回到11,600,那裡也是480天均線的位置,過去4年多來,以及在1990到2000年那波超級大多頭中,道瓊大拉回時,到那裡都是不錯的中期買點." 這個看法應不用改變. 所以明炫兄如果要短線獲利了結, 等到大盤落底再進場也可以. 不過要冒著好股票跑掉的風險, 或者有個幾元的差價就要隨時接回.

至於台股,我們之前說今年底前會到9,800, 已提早到了, 在同一篇文中也指出"我預估這波的修正要大約2到3個月的時間,低點約在8,400左右(有可能降到8,000點). 到時應是另一次賺錢的好買點."

原則上 ,這邊短線及中線(3到6個月)操作要保守,多留些現金, 長線則仍是多頭,好好等買點.

雲霄飛車

昨天一早，股市開盤後眼睜睜的看著CREE一口氣跌到$23以下，差點就沒從椅子上摔下來。真正是熱鍋上的螞蟻，就差一點沒有把它脫手。本著的也只有豆腐兄前晚的分析，想不到下午回來後一看，居然完全收復失地。我只能說 "不可思議"，還是要聽聽 我們宇宙超級股市分析大師的指教。

何博士8月19日(周日)回國 說要吃 noodle

前幾天跟 ,明炫,維治及何博士在skype上聊天, 何博士說8月19日(周日)回國,待個兩三天後,還要去大陸.

在線上我們何博士說希望吃 noodle ,我想應是要吃'牛肉麵', 我們同學有沒有知道好吃的牛肉麵推薦一下. 我知道有一家位在'永康牛肉麵'旁邊的'張家牛肉麵',好像不錯. 之前在牛肉麵比賽後去, 看到有人在排隊就沒去吃. 結果買永康牛肉麵來吃, 吃到一半太鹹 , 就倒了. 有些媒體介紹的真的是名過其實.

不過在西門町峨嵋街8之1號,一條龍餃子館旁,有一家賣大腸麵線的'阿宗麵線',常常可以看到很多人在排隊 ,而且一堆人買了就站在騎樓或路邊大吃起來,小姐紳士也一樣. 何博士您看如何?...

各位其他同學, 請不要說我小氣,只想請他吃大腸麵線, 我可是有"很好心的"提議, 哈, 等我們何博士回國時, 我們去找 star,不要像我以前那們笨,都去他公司,要像石全,維治,明炫他們要去到他家裡找他, 都有'三井宴'吃, 哈.

也不知到,何博士他是真的不要, 還是怕麻煩別人, 還是台語說的'愛吃假客氣', 他竟然說不喜歡吃三井,要吃 noodle....這小子真是不知好歹, 這樣連我的三井宴也沒了.

sandisk : 1) 目標價被調高 2) 三星剛出問題

1. 之前提到生產 flash的大廠 sandisk (sndk) 是個不錯的中線投資標的, 之後他也表現的很漂亮, 一個多月內從40幾元攻到60元. 最近美股及全球股市因為美國次級房貸及日圓利差交易( yen carry trade) 問題,而重挫, sandisk 股價也從60元拉回最低到50.62元, 未來如有拉回到50上下,應是個不錯的買點 .

2. 一個多月前我們提到, 因為很多新的電子用品都要大量使用到 flash, 多數券商對sandisk都只看到50元附近. 當時我們就認為偏低,到時侯一定會調高目標價. 最近我看到一篇7月20日報導, 真的很多大券商都大幅調高其目標價到70元上下. 部分內容如下:

Citigroup boosted its price target on SanDisk to $71, from $62, Oppenheimer, $70, from $60, and Bear Stearns, $68, from $57. "We believe company has firmly established a cost leadership over competition - Samsung and Hynix over the past several quarters," wrote Oppenheimer analyst Vijay Rakesh. "Also we believe an insatiable appetite from Apple.

3. 今天(週五)下午, 聽到一位對半導體產業非常專業的朋友說, 三星在下午4點多發生小爆炸使的約9萬多片的flash晶圓片報廢(該公司應不會公佈此訊息), 若重新投產要2個月才會出來, 短期內flash 將出現供不應求的現象, 這對sandisk應極為有利, 有操作美股的同學,在此應可進一點(我擔心50元的價位短期內可能不會來),作短作長皆可.

根據過去美國道瓊近百年來的走勢圖,可以看到總統大選的前一年及當年,股市幾乎都是上漲(見上兩圖,圖中的數字是選舉年),所以美股才有所謂的總統循環 (presidential cycle). 台股也有類似的情形,因此年初以來,就認為台股及美股到明年的總統大選前都將走大多頭, 尤其台股中長線的潛力更雄厚.

7月3日時,認為台股今年保守會到9,800. 沒想到7月26日(週四)台股就漲到9807,指數目標會這麼快就看到(見最下圖).

最近因為次級房貸( subprime loan )及日圓利差交易(yen carry trade)等問題造成美股及全球股市重挫,台股也快速拉回,兩天大跌600多點. 我預估這波的修正要大約2到3個月的時間,低點約在8400左右. 到時應是另一次賺錢的好買點.

美股方面, 這次的跌勢說明美股進入中期修正, 但長線多頭仍未走完, 我預估美股強勢整理的話會回到12,300到12,600附近, 若次級房貸及利差交易嚴重,那11,600,那裡也是480天均線的位置(見中間圖中的藍色線),過去4年多來,以及在美股1990到2000年那波超級大多頭中,拉回到那裡都是不錯的中期買點.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese girls born last year can expect to live to an average age of 85.8 years, making them the longest-lived in the world, according to figures released by the government on Thursday.
Their male compatriots fare less well, with a life expectancy of 79 years, second to Icelandic men at 79.4 years, the Health Ministry said.
Japan's women have topped the world's longevity ranks for 22 years, something researchers have attributed to their healthy diet and tight social ties, among other factors.
Improved treatment of the ageing population's three biggest killers -- cancer, heart disease and stroke -- has helped push life expectancy to record highs, a ministry official said.
After the Japanese, Taiwanese women are the world's second longest-lived at 84.6 years, then Spanish and Swiss women at 83.9 years, the report said.

LA Mini Reunion
